Elektra

Elektra  infiltrator icon

Deadly assassin, uses stealthy attacks to bleed her opponents.

Elektra
Advantages
Attacks are Stealthy and apply Internal Bleeding.
Especially damaging against Tacticians, even for an Infiltrator.
Can assassinate injured opponents.
Disadvantages
Limited effectiveness against non-Bleeding opponents.
Mediocre defensive capabilities.
Stamina can be an issue for her.

Like the other lockbox reward heroes, Elektra is a sometime villain in the MCU that now fights as an ally of SHIELD. Although she is not the most hardy character in the game, her stealthy, bloodletting attacks are deadly for many opponents. And like the other lockbox heroes, she is currently unavailable, though PD may put her Shadowy Lockboxes up for sale again at some point.

She starts off slowly because of her low health and attack, and if you form a judgment on her while she is at low levels, you may decide to bench her in favor of other, flashier characters. Don’t. As you level and chip her up, she becomes more and more of a threat to the opposition. She has two passives: Master Assassin, which gives her a 20% chance to dodge attacks and pre-emptively launch counters, and Way of the Stick, which renders all of her attacks Stealthy and unlikely to trigger counters or Protect abilities. When you’re playing, for example, bosses who bring along “bodyguards” who use Protect passives to keep you from attacking the boss, Elektra’s Stealthy attacks sneak right past the protectors to take it straight to the bosses.

Her first attack is the straightforward Heavy Sais, which rips into opponents for moderate damage. More useful is the Internal Bleeding and Hemorrhage debuffs it applies. Internal Bleeding is a form of the usual Bleeding debuff which cannot be removed by the usual methods. Hemorrhaging causes the target to “gush” blood (in the form of damage points and not gory graphics). Her second attack, Ancient Art, is less damaging, but applies the fearsome Flanked debuff, which gives subsequent attacks the ability to strike twice, and Wide Open, which allows for additional melee damage. Her third attack is her only area attack: Rain of Blood causes Internal Bleeding, Hobbled (disallowing Stealthy attacks from the recipient), and Ravaged, which adds to the damage from Bleeding. Fourth and last is Assassination, a single strike that not only applies the usual Internal Bleeding, but Brutal Strike (damage cannot be repaired by resurrection efforts) and Fatal Blow, which knocks out opponents with 30% or less health remaining (except for bosses, who take additional heavy damage instead).

Defensively, Elektra brings little to the fight. Except for her Master Assassin passive, her defensive capabilities are limited.

PVP: In my opinion, Elektra is an underrated asset for a PVP team. Her greatest assets are her Stealthy attacks, her Internal Bleeding debuffs, and her ability to Flank an opponent. She is a natural component of a “bleed team”, pairing with Wolverine, Sabretooth, Black Panther, or other heroes who rely on Bleeding to cause damage. If you routinely battle Tacticians in your PVP battles, Elektra is an excellent counter. Unfortunately, she has no real defensive capabilities other than her passive ability to dodge attacks, and she is not that difficult to knock out of battle. Like all Infiltrators, she is particularly vulnerable to Scrappers. I’ve won a lot of PVP fights because of Elektra. When I lose with her on the team, she is usually the first one down.

Alternate Uniforms: Elektra has no alternate uniforms at present, and is unlikely to get them in the foreseeable future.

Strategy Suggestions

In my view, the best way to deploy Elektra is to use her as what she is – an assassin. Sending her against a single target, preferably a Tactician, is the best way to take out that target quickly. Start with her Ancient Art attack and follow with either her Heavy Sais or, if the opponent is likely to be around for a third round, a second Ancient Art: the second attack will carry over Flanked into the next round and add the Heavy Sais as the following attack. Save Assassination for the final, “fatal” blow.

If you prefer to spread the damage, use her Rain of Blood first to get all three opponents bleeding, then either continue with the area attacks or focus on a single opponent as above. This is less efficient, but can be intensely damaging in the right situations. (For what it’s worth, when you play against Elektra in PVP, the computer always opens with Rain of Blood.)
